At SpaceX I was the primary IT support for the Vandenberg launch site. With the help of assistant technicians and remote staff else where, my activities included mundane tasks like:

  • Fixing broken printers
  • Establishing network connectivity for satellites about to be launched
  • Identifying and delivering on all IT requirements for a launch campaign
  • Participate in launch operations before, during, and after a rocket launch
  • Development and execution of procedures designed to ensure the safety and success of launch operations
  • Network design, switch configuration, etc. for the Vandenberg site
  • Planning and implementation for bringing up new facilities

Helpdesk Specialist: 2007-2010

Duties included: Creating/maintaining software and operating system deployment strategies, Active/Open Directory administration, fiber device configuration (including server and router administration and cabling), Symantec Altiris product Infrastructure support and implementation, cutting edge desktop workstation hardware and software support, OSX support and server administration, and more.

 

Systems Support: 2006-2007

Provided support for Mac and Windows workstations for High Definition and 2K/4K video and 3D modelling workflows.  Specific application support included Adobe AfterEffects, Autodesk Maya, and Apple Final Cut Pro among others.  Hardware support included 3DBoxx and MacPro workstations, as well as various AJA, BlackMagic, and Sonnet equipment.

 

Game Test Analyst I: 2004-2006

Software quality assurance testing for PlayStation2 and PlayStation Portable games. Occasionally included 100+ hour workweeks to meet a deadline. Concentration, dedication, and extreme attention to detail were all critical to the success of this job. Trained and certified “GTA I”, some training in Technical Requirements Checklist quality assurance.

Support for an extensive Windows Server cloud environment that specializes in rapid deployment of Oracle-based enterprise project management solutions.  My role focused on the virtualization and storage infrastructure and I brought advanced IT troubleshooting, problem solving and process automation to the table.

  • Business process automation (Windows Server deployment in VMware, Windows activation via KMS, configuration management via Active Directory)

As an application sysadmin, it was my job to implement and support several major corporate and line-of-business applications.

I was responsible for the user experience for ViaSat’s Windows-based desktop computing platform. There are many technical aspects, but at the end of the day my goal was to increase the value that the internal IT department provides to our engineer and developer rock stars.
